About the various reactions to Eirika’s DLC, and my own reaction earlier this morning. So I think I’d like to apologize for my earlier thoughts, because after thinking a little bit (and after getting some more information), I’d like to revise my opinion.

…Okay, there’s no getting around that the dress is actually pretty ridiculous. But at least it’s pretty. (And makes more sense than…..whatever Celice is supposed to be wearing as a coat. I’m sorry, I laugh every time I see his art.)
The class in itself could probably be worded a bit better, but staves and bows and lances/swords (heard different things from different people)? I’m sorry, but that is freaking cool. Maybe an odd choice on Eirika, but still actually really cool. 

On the DLC in general, this is actually the very first one where I saw and my gut reaction was “oh god what”. Yeah, I’ll make fun of Celice’s coat till the cows come home, but it doesn’t bother me. Micaiah’s a very, very gray area I don’t want to go into right now, and I…actually liked Elincia’s outfit a lot? (And I think had it been on anyone else it’d have gotten better reception). And there were several designs I really liked (Roy’s and Ephraim’s especially, and that’s saying something because Ephraim is my least favorite lord.) But why did this one jolt me while most others didn’t? Y’know, I don’t know. I honestly blame it on me jumping to conclusions without any facts early in the morning.

But then, I realized….wait a minute, this is DLC stuff. This has nothing to do with the main game, and I don’t have to get it if I don’t want to. I’m already so excited for such a fantastic game and I don’t want extra stuff to bring me down.

Fandoms have our good days and we have our bad days. Right now, this is a bad day because everyone (including myself earlier) is in a tizzy. But on the whole, we’re such a great fandom. Let’s not let the little things get us down, okay?

Okay, so I’m probably going to lose all of my FE-fandom followers in one fell swoop, but okay. Let me start off with a few disclaimers. Firstly, I really love Eirika as a character in FE8. As happy as I am that she is going to be available via DLC, I do find her redesign to be rather silly. 

However, I am not going to be like a large chunk of the tumblr fandom and blow up about it. I have seen a good 10 people on my dash now say that they are refusing to buy the game because of this decision.
